What is Summer School?
Summer School is not a conference in the usual sense.
It is a week-long immersion into astrology as a living language,
held within the historic setting of Exeter College, Oxford.
Each year, people from around the world gather here to step out of daily life and into focused study. Some come to deepen their practice. Some to reconnect with astrology in a more meaningful way. Others arrive curious, not quite knowing what they are looking for, but sensing that this is the right place to be.
Hosted by the Faculty of Astrological Studies, Summer School reflects the Faculty’s long-standing commitment to serious, thoughtful astrological education. The Faculty is a non-profit educational organisation, internationally respected for its Diploma and for maintaining high standards of teaching, ethics, and practice.
What makes Summer School distinctive is the atmosphere it creates.
Learning unfolds slowly and deeply.
Conversations continue over meals.
Ideas mature across days rather than hours.
There is time to listen, reflect,
question, and integrate.
You may attend for a single day, a weekend, or the full week.
However long you stay, you become part of a shared rhythm of study,
discussion, and discovery.
Many people return year after year, not because they need to,
but because Summer School becomes part of how they learn astrology.
This is an experience designed for those who value depth,
clarity, and genuine engagement.
A place where astrology is approached with care, intelligence,
and imagination.
How it works
Summer School is designed to be flexible, but a few choices make everything fall into place.
Start here, and you will know exactly what you can book.
Step 1: Are you new to astrology?
Choose the route that fits your current level. You do not need to be a Faculty student to attend.
Astrology in Action
Astrology in Action is the heart of Summer School.
It is where ideas meet experience, and where astrology becomes something you can
listen to, question, test, and integrate.
Track 1
The Dance of the Luminaries
This track explores the Sun and Moon as living principles shaping incarnation, family patterns, creativity, and inner development. Drawing on sacred art, lunation and eclipse charts, progressed Moon cycles, Sun–Moon midpoints, and the Lunar Nodes, participants are invited to reflect on how solar and lunar symbolism reveals purpose, inheritance, and personal rhythm.
Through myth, iconography, and astrological practice, the sessions create a dialogue between celestial symbolism and lived experience, illuminating how luminary patterns unfold across lineage, relationship, and the evolving sense of self.
Track 2
Astrology as a Healing Art
Astrology as a Healing Art approaches the horoscope as a symbolic map of inherited patterns, inner resources, and pathways toward integration and wellbeing. Themes include unconscious inheritance, family systems, core beliefs, and the ethical handling of sensitive chart configurations.
Particular attention is given to healing archetypes such as the Sun, Saturn, Chiron, Chariklo, and the angles. Astrology is explored as a compassionate language that supports self-awareness, emotional literacy, and the gradual transformation of inherited wounds into sources of meaning.
Track 3
Astrological Techniques in Practice
This track offers a hands-on exploration of core astrological methods used in consultation, forecasting, and applied interpretation. Working with horary, mundane, and career-focused examples, participants refine their ability to ask clear questions and derive meaningful answers.
Locational techniques including astrocartography, cyclocartography, geodetics, and relocated charts are introduced, alongside approaches to yearly forecasting. Emphasis is placed on practical clarity, methodological rigour, and ethical application within real-life contexts.
Choose your way to attend
Summer School is designed to meet you where you are.
You can come for a single day, a weekend, five days, or the full week.
Many people combine the weekend courses with the five-day programme for the complete experience.
You do not need to commit to “everything” to feel the magic.
Choose a shape that fits your life, then let the week do what it does best: deepen your understanding, widen your perspective, and reconnect you with astrology as a living language.
Weekend spotlight
Two exceptional weekend courses led by internationally respected astrologers.
This year’s weekend programme marks a rare and powerful convergence of traditions.
For the first time at Summer School, we are offering a full weekend course in
Chinese astrology, alongside a deeply grounded exploration of
mundane astrology.
Both weekends offer teaching of lasting value, whether you are building foundations
or refining an established practice.
Between Heaven and Earth
Entering Bazi Through Chinese Cosmology
Berna Lee & Joi Tong Lee
A rare opportunity to study Bazi through its philosophical and cosmological roots, taught by a father-and-daughter teaching partnership with deep lineage and lived expertise. This course offers clear conceptual frameworks, practical orientation, and a grounded entry point into Chinese astrological thought that complements and challenges Western perspectives.
This is not a superficial introduction, but a carefully structured invitation into a tradition that rewards patience, clarity, and attention.
Perspectives in
Mundane Astrology
Wade Caves
A thoughtful and disciplined approach to mundane astrology, rooted in historical awareness, technical precision, and real-world application. Wade brings clarity to complex charts and offers techniques that sharpen judgement without oversimplifying the world they describe.
Ideal for astrologers who want stronger context, greater confidence, and a more rigorous framework for interpreting collective events.
Gala Dinner
One of the defining evenings of Summer School.
A candlelit Oxford night, shared with the community, in the unforgettable surroundings of Exeter College.
Begin with a musical performance in the Chapel, then step into the Dining Hall for an exceptional three-course dinner and an after-dinner talk. If you have ever wanted to experience Oxford at its most atmospheric, this is the moment. Many people say it feels like you have walked into a story.
Five-day attendees only Must be booked in advance Very limited availability
